The History of Appalachia Humble beginnings. We are proud to claim them at Appalachia Business Communications because they say so much about how far we have come. In 1970 Appalachia Business Communications started with a staff of three in Knoxville, Tennessee. Today, Appalachia Business Communications is the largest photocopier headquarters in East Tennessee. In Knoxville we have grown to a staff of over 50 with more than 4,500 copiers in place. Appalachia Business Communications opened its sister office in June 1979 in the Colonial Heights area of Kingsport, with a staff of two. The Kingsport office has since grown to a staff of fifteen; consisting of six factory trained service technicians, five sales personnel and an administrative staff of four. In 1992, we moved to our present 7,200 square feet location in Gray, TN. From this location we are an authorized dealer for SHARP & TOSHIBA Electronics; servicing SHARP & TOSHIBA Copiers and Facsimiles in Upper East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. Our commitment to service has helped us to become one of the largest photocopier dealers in the Tri-Cities area.
